Walking is healthy; and it’s also one of the best ways to spark creativity. Many of our most beautiful ideas arise while walking. During walks in the Algarve, you experience this for yourself while discovering the stunning surroundings in a relaxed and natural way.
I’m Anne, and I have been walking in the Algarve nearly 19 years. I know the region like the back of my hand and love sharing it with others. That’s why my guided walks in the Algarve often lead you away from the beaten track. Instead of busy routes, I take you along hidden paths I discovered myself. Or that were shared with me by local residents.
As your guide during these walks in the Algarve, I bring you to unspoiled nature reserves and picturesque places full of character. While walking, I share interesting facts and stories about the landscape, the flora and fauna, and the Portuguese way of life. Walking in the Algarve becomes not just a physical experience, but a cultural one as well.
Walks in the Algarve; A Unique Experience
Walking in the Algarve is truly different from walking elsewhere. Here, you can walk for miles without meeting another soul. Apart from the occasional old farmer greeting you along the way. The scenery changes constantly. From soft and colorful landscapes to rugged, dramatic cliffs and grey stone paths shaped by wind and sea.
Along the way, we often pick fresh fruit straight from the trees, depending on the season. These small moments make walks in the Algarve feel authentic, grounding and deeply connected to nature.
There are countless beautiful routes to explore. And I would love to take you along on some of my most cherished Algarve guided walks. Join me and experience walking in the Algarve as it was meant to be: peaceful, inspiring and unforgettable.
✨ I look forward to sharing my favourite routes with you.
Algarve South and West Coast walks
From our B&B, you can enjoy a wide variety of walks in the Algarve, each offering its own unique scenery and atmosphere. One of our favourite routes is a long, relaxed beach walk along Meia Praia, with endless views over the Atlantic Ocean. At the far end of the beach, where the river meets the sea, we often pause. Time to observe several species of native birds in their natural habitat.
Another beautiful option is a circular walk through the agricultural hinterland, passing salt marshes, mussel beds and traditional farmland. Along the way, the path even follows ancient levadas; historic irrigation canals that add a unique character to this walk.
For lovers of coastal scenery, I highly recommend a round walk starting at the lighthouse of Lagos, near Ponta da Piedade. This spectacular coastal path leads you past striking golden rock formations, each one more impressive than the last. From here, it is even possible to continue on foot to the charming seaside town of Praia da Luz.
A wonderful part of our guided walks in the Algarve is that we always take time at the end to relax together. Like enjoying a coffee and cake on a sunny terrace. An absolute must during your stay is walking along the unspoilt west coast of the Algarve, the Costa Vicentina. Here, time seems to stand still. Think rugged cliffs, dramatic rock formations and sleepy coastal villages with a raw, authentic atmosphere. This is also a paradise for surfers; and for anyone who wants to experience walking in the Algarve as it once was.

Silves; A Taste of the Algarve
This walk is often described as a true sensory experience among the walks in the Algarve. We stroll through fragrant orange groves, picking and tasting juicy fruit straight from the trees as we go. After a relaxing break on a shady terrace, we continue with a gentle city walk through the historic town of Silves.
Here, we take time to soak up the atmosphere and explore the rich cultural heritage of the town, with its unmistakable Moorish influences. This combination of nature, flavour and history makes Silves one of the most enjoyable guided walks in the Algarve.
Monchique; Walking on the Roof of the Algarve
Monchique is an absolute must when it comes to walking in the Algarve. As one highlight is the breathtaking 360-degree panoramic walk. From the “top of the Algarve,” you truly feel on top of the world, with sweeping views stretching all the way to the Atlantic Ocean.
Another magical route leads you into what many describe as a real Garden of Eden. Who wouldn’t want to stroll to a sacred well? Fonte Santa is known for its spring water, which locals say keeps you forever young. We follow ancient donkey trails through a lush green valley, along babbling brooks and under overhanging branches where you can pick ripe oranges, plums or peaches in season.
I also highly recommend the quieter, more adventurous walk that gently winds through majestic cork oak forests. There is so much beauty to see — and so many stories to tell — before we end our walk on the terrace of the historic spa town Caldas de Monchique, a perfect place to rest and reflect.
Moonlight, Sunrise & Early Morning Walks
For something truly special, Anne also organises full moon Moonlight–Sunrise walks and sunrise walks for early birds. Especially in the height of summer, walking in the Algarve during the early morning or under the moonlight is highly recommended.
The air is cooler, the light is magical, and the landscape feels calm and almost timeless — a wonderful way to experience the Algarve at its most peaceful.
✨ Join one of these unique walks in the Algarve and experience nature, culture and quiet moments you’ll never forget.
