Experience The Art of Joy, B&B by the Sea Portugal! Look at our drone view to get a good impression. On the 1st of March 2024 we open our doors again after a renovation. On your flip-flops, you can walk to the golden beach of Meia Praia within 5 minutes (!) for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. Our new Quinta is located in a green oasis, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. At the same time, our B&B by the sea Portugal is only two km away from the historic, but also trendy city of Lagos. Our B&B is located in the former residence of the well-known Portuguese writer Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.

The Art of Joy B&B by the Sea Portugal also has its own tennis court and a swimming pool. In addition, the most beautiful golf course in Portugal, Palmares, is a stone’s throw away. Moreover, from our quiet B&B by the sea Portugal you will get to a beautiful beach in no time (5 minutes walking). This coastal strip of Meia Praia has a range of 6 km. This allows you to find tranquil places on the beach, even in summer. Not only can you enjoy swimming there, you can also take a beautiful beach walk. Besides the beach of Meia Praia with its azure blue clear water, Lagos has the most beautiful bays in the Algarve with beaches such as; Praia Doña Ana and Praia Porto do Mos. These beaches are surrounded by golden yellow rock formations, which you can admire on foot, by paddle or by canoe.
The town of Lagos, restaurants and facilities
In addition, you can stroll from our B&B by the sea Portugal half an hour to the centre of the historic and trendy city of Lagos. This former capital of the Algarve has an impressive history and therefore has different architectural styles. The first voyages of discovery to Africa and the east were organized from the harbour. The city wall was built to ward off pirates and can still be admired during a city walk. Within the boundaries of these walls, you can wander for hours through cosy alleys with colourful tiled houses and small-scale shops. All in all, there are countless amenities. For example, in terms of restaurants and beach bars, Lagos has a lot to offer. Also for vegetarians or vegans.

All in all, The Art of Joy is more than a B&B by the sea Portugal. In addition to four Bed and Breakfast rooms with luxury box-spring beds and Wi-Fi and free coffee and tea facilities, we also offer walks, coaching, yoga and hiking weeks. Changes in 2026 – with the same joyful spirit
Starting in March 2026, we’ll continue to welcome you with warmth and care, but with a few changes:
• Arrival days: Monday or Thursday
• Minimum stay: 1 week
• No more central breakfast
On your first morning, a small breakfast will be waiting in your fridge – no need to rush to the shops right away. After that, you can enjoy the freedom of preparing breakfast at your own pace in your private kitchenette.
Each day at 09:30 we’ll gather at the big table for coffee or tea and a sweet treat – the perfect moment for sharing tips, stories, and inspiration for your day.
