The Art of Joy Location

The Art of Joy is located in the far southwest of Portugal. The house is on the southern slope of Mount Foia at an altitude of 700 m surrounded by protected natural scenery. It is within the volcanic mountain range of the Serra de Monchique which is known for its natural springs. The Art of Joy has its own mineral water which feeds directly into the swimming pool and makes for a special swimming and bathing experience.

The advantage of the high altitude is the magnificent views of both the South and the West Coasts. With the naked eye you can even see vessels at the ocean. Moreover, it makes the summer nights pleasantly cool.

The Art of Joy lies in the middle of a subtropical forest and is thus an excellent starting point for hikes. Furthermore, you will find at the road between the Casa and the village of Monchique a dozen of local restaurants of which two are in walking distance. The Art of Joy is situated 4.5 kms from the picturesque town of Monchique where you find a nice little square with free Wi-Fi, nice terraces, restaurants and supermarkets. We recommend you go to a superb tea room O Cha La with home made scones and pastries. Monchique has a relaxed and authentic atmosphere reminiscent of bygone times while it enjoys all modern amenities. If you drive up of our way you will be delighted by the scents of eucalyptus, rosemary, rock rose and lavender.
 

We are fifty miles from the international airport of Faro. It is necessary to rent a car with for example www.cars4holidays.com  Sunny Cars or you can book through your national airlines. There are many bargains on flights with Easy Jet and Ryan Air.
